Compare 2010 Audi A3 Insurance Rates

No one looks forward to paying for car insurance, especially knowing their premiums are too high. Because you have many options when it comes to car insurance, it is very difficult to pick the cheapest car insurance company.

Low Cost Insurance Coverage

Finding lower insurance coverage rates can be surprisingly simple. The only requirement is to spend a few minutes on the computer to compare quotes online from several insurance companies. This can be accomplished using a couple different methods.

  1. The most efficient way consumers can analyze rates is a comparison rater form (click to open form in new window). This type of form prevents you from having to do separate quote forms for each company you want a rate for. One form gets you price quotes direct from many companies.
  2. A different way to analyze rates requires a visit to each individual company website to request a price quote. For instance, we’ll pretend you want rates from Liberty Mutual, Farmers and Travelers. To find out each rate you need to visit each site to input your insurance information, which is why the first method is more popular. To view a list of companies in your area, click here.
  3. The least recommended method to compare rates is driving around to local insurance agencies. The ability to buy insurance online makes this process obsolete unless you have a need for the personal advice only provided by licensed agents. Drivers can get prices online but still have the advice of a local agent and we’ll touch on that later.

Whichever method you choose, be sure to compare apples-to-apples deductibles and coverage limits on every quote. If you use mixed coverages you will not be able to determine the best price for your Audi A3.

Companies offer discounts so take them!

The price of auto insurance can be rather high, but there are discounts available to help offset the cost. A few discounts will automatically apply at the time you complete a quote, but some may not be applied and must be inquired about in order for you to get them. If you aren’t receiving every discount you deserve, you are paying more than you should be.

  • E-sign – Certain companies give back up to $50 just for signing your application over the internet.
  • Drive Less and Save – Driving fewer miles can earn discounted rates on garaged vehicles.
  • Resident Student – Kids in college who are attending college without a vehicle on campus can receive lower rates.
  • Anti-theft Discount – Anti-theft and alarm systems can help prevent theft and earn discounts up to 10%.
  • Good Student – Getting good grades can get you a discount of up to 25%. The good student discount can last up to age 25.
  • Drive Safe and Save – Drivers who don’t get into accidents can get discounts for up to 45% lower rates on A3 coverage than their less cautious counterparts.
  • Payment Method – If you pay your entire premium ahead of time rather than paying monthly you could save 5% or more.
  • Seat Belts Save more than Lives – Buckling up and requiring all passengers to use their safety belts can save 10% or more off your medical payments premium.
  • Save over 55 – If you qualify as a senior citizen, you may qualify for a discount up to 10% on A3 coverage.

Consumers should know that most discounts do not apply to the entire policy premium. Most only cut the cost of specific coverages such as medical payments or collision. So despite the fact that it appears all the discounts add up to a free policy, it doesn’t quite work that way. But all discounts will help reduce the cost of coverage.

Do I just need basic coverages?

When choosing coverage, there really is no best way to insure your cars. Everyone’s situation is a little different so your insurance needs to address that. Here are some questions about coverages that might point out whether or not you might need an agent’s assistance.

  • What is the ISO rating for a 2010 Audi A3?
  • Do I pay less for low miles?
  • Who is covered when they drive my 2010 Audi A3?
  • How does medical payments coverage work?
  • Where can I get insurance after a DUI in my state?
  • Is my vehicle covered by my employer’s policy when using it for work?
  • When should my teen driver be added to my policy?

If you can’t answer these questions but you think they might apply to your situation, then you may want to think about talking to a licensed agent. Insurance coverages 101

Understanding the coverages of your policy can help you determine which coverages you need at the best deductibles and correct limits. Insurance terms can be difficult to understand and nobody wants to actually read their policy. These are the normal coverages found on the average insurance policy.

Collision coverage

Collision coverage pays to fix your vehicle from damage caused by collision with a stationary object or other vehicle. You first must pay a deductible then the remaining damage will be paid by your insurance company.

Collision insurance covers things such as scraping a guard rail, driving through your garage door, colliding with another moving vehicle, crashing into a building and backing into a parked car. This coverage can be expensive, so analyze the benefit of dropping coverage from lower value vehicles. You can also choose a higher deductible in order to get cheaper collision rates.

Coverage for liability

Liability coverage can cover injuries or damage you cause to other’s property or people by causing an accident. It protects YOU from legal claims by others, and doesn’t cover your injuries or vehicle damage.

Split limit liability has three limits of coverage: bodily injury for each person, bodily injury for the entire accident, and a limit for property damage. As an example, you may have policy limits of 25/50/25 which means $25,000 in coverage for each person’s injuries, a per accident bodily injury limit of $50,000, and a limit of $25,000 paid for damaged property. Some companies may use a combined limit which combines the three limits into one amount without having the split limit caps.

Liability can pay for claims such as medical services, legal defense fees, pain and suffering, funeral expenses and repair bills for other people’s vehicles. How much liability coverage do you need? That is your choice, but it’s cheap coverage so purchase as high a limit as you can afford.

Medical costs insurance

Medical payments and Personal Injury Protection insurance pay for bills for things like nursing services, dental work, prosthetic devices, pain medications and chiropractic care. They are often used in conjunction with a health insurance program or if you do not have health coverage. Medical payments and PIP cover both the driver and occupants in addition to any family member struck as a pedestrian. Personal Injury Protection is only offered in select states and gives slightly broader coverage than med pay

Comprehensive or Other Than Collision

This pays for damage caused by mother nature, theft, vandalism and other events. You need to pay your deductible first and the remainder of the damage will be paid by comprehensive coverage.

Comprehensive can pay for claims like hitting a deer, hitting a bird, damage from a tornado or hurricane, damage from getting keyed and damage from flooding. The maximum amount you’ll receive from a claim is the ACV or actual cash value, so if the vehicle’s value is low it’s not worth carrying full coverage.

UM/UIM Coverage

This coverage protects you and your vehicle’s occupants when other motorists either have no liability insurance or not enough. Covered losses include hospital bills for your injuries and also any damage incurred to your Audi A3.

Due to the fact that many drivers only carry the minimum required liability limits, it only takes a small accident to exceed their coverage. This is the reason having UM/UIM coverage is important protection for you and your family. Normally the UM/UIM limits do not exceed the liability coverage limits.
